The DoMans

It all started in a warehouse in Hackney…

Well that’s where we met.

Katy grew up here on the farm, moving away for 15 years to study, work and travel. She moved back here in 2016 with her husband, Skot.

Skot, a rolling stone, had put in some serious study at the University of Life, rolling around the world, leaving a trail of friends and bizarre jobs behind him. The closest he’d come to settling was in Wanaka, New Zealand, where he’d worked alongside highly skilled and creative craftsmen. Opportunity arouse to apply his skills when we achieved our planning permission to develop an eco-toursim site on the land. He was also introduced there to Rope Access work (Industrial Abseil) which became his trade and has taken him around the world since… till now.

Whilst in London Katy worked in the Fashion Industry as a pattern cutter but Skot’s transitory spirit rubbed off because she decided to leave the Industry behind and convert a Transit van to a camper and head off around the continent. Skot caught up with her on the West Coast of France, where she was working as a chef.

After spending some time in Northern Spain we found ourselves back in Yorkshire, planning a project and bringing our daughter Ava into the world.

Our combined life experience seems to have brought together a flair for design, a passion for working with the natural environment, years of hospitality experience and a desire to exist in a more sustainable way.
